Who we are
Ethical Food Collective Taunton (EFCT) is a Community Benefit Society and will operate with a mixture of paid employees in the Lesser Litter shop, supported by a small number of committed volunteers. Governance is by a Board of Directors (all Taunton based):
Karuna Tharmananthar
Jon Shepherd
Clare Pineda-Langford
Mel Bradley
Why we exist
The purpose of EFCT is to continue the vision of the original owners of Lesser Litter - Pete & Kate - which was to give the people of Taunton a positive option for shopping ethically, organically and package free.
The Collective wishes to build on this and has an overall mission that is wider, embracing community health & wellbeing, environmental benefits and promoting social justice.
“Ethical Food Collective Taunton continuing our work with Lesser Litter is the best possible outcome. Their commitment ensures that the founding values of Lesser Litter — reducing waste and making sustainable products accessible to the people of Taunton and Somerset — will live on and thrive. I’m excited to see how much more impact and innovation can be achieved under their new membership-led model, and I warmly invite the community to support and shape this next chapter together.”
